CLAZIDE
COMPOSITION
Each tablet contains :
– Gliclazide…………………………………………:30 mg
– Excipients : q.s………………………………..: 1 tablet
THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES :
Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea hypoglycemic agent and an oral antidiabetic. It stimulates insulin secretion.
INDICATIONS :
Non-insulin-dependent diabetes (type 2)
CONTRAINDICATIONS :
- Known hypersensitivity to gliclazide or any of its components, to other sulfonylureas, or to sulfonamides;
- Type 1 diabetes;
- Severe renal or hepatic insufficiency.
- Treatment with miconazole.
- Breastfeeding

WARNING AND PRECAUTION :
Factors increasing the risk of hypoglycemia:
- Refusal or inability of the patient to cooperate (particularly in elderly individuals);
- Malnutrition, irregular meal times, skipped meals, fasting periods, or changes in diet;
- Imbalance between physical exercise and carbohydrate intake;
- Concurrent administration of other medications (see Interactions).
SIDE EFFECTS :
- The possible symptoms of hypoglycemia include: headaches, intense hunger, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, sleep disturbances, agitation, confusion, visual disturbances, and speech difficulties.
- Gastrointestinal disturbances, such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia, diarrhea, and constipation, have been reported.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Oral administration.
For adults only.
The daily dose may range from 1 to 4 tablets, taken as a single oral dose at breakfast.
Initial dose:
The recommended initial dose is 1 tablet per day.
- If blood glucose control is satisfactory, this dosage can be maintained as the maintenance dose.
- If blood glucose control is not satisfactory, the dose may be increased to 2, 3, or 4 tablets per day.
The maximum recommended dose is 4 tablets per day.
