Dermatological Conditions:

– Severe auto-immune blistering dermatoses, particularly pemphigus and bullous pemphigoid. – Severe forms of infantile hemangiomas.

– Some acute urticarias.

PREDNISOLONE

COMPOSITION :

Each tablet contains :

– Prednisolone acetate ……………………… 5 mg

– Excipients : q.s. ………………………. One tablet

THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES :

Steroidal anti-inflammatory.

INDICATIONS :

Collagenoses, Connective Tissue Diseases: Systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, polymyositis, visceral sarcoidosis.

Dermatological Conditions:

– Severe auto-immune blistering dermatoses, particularly pemphigus and bullous pemphigoid. – Severe forms of infantile hemangiomas.

– Some acute urticarias.

Digestive Conditions:

– Progressive flare-ups of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.

– Chronic active autoimmune hepatitis (with or without cirrhosis).

– Severe acute alcoholic hepatitis, histologically proven.

Endocrine Conditions:

– Severe subacute thyroiditis (De Quervain’s thyroiditis).

– Some hypercalcemia.

Hematological Conditions:

– Autoimmune hemolytic anemias.

Infectious Conditions:

– Tuberculous pericarditis and severe forms of tuberculosis that threaten life.

Neurological Conditions:

– Myasthenia.

– Brain edema due to tumors.

Ophthalmic Conditions:

– Severe anterior and posterior uveitis.

ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) Conditions:

– Some serous otitis.

Respiratory Conditions:
– Persistent asthma, preferably with short-term treatment in cases of
failure of high-dose inhaled treatment.
Rheumatological Conditions:
– Rheumatoid arthritis and some polyarthritis.
– Acute rheumatic fever.
CONTRAINDICATIONS :

– Any infectious condition, except for specified indications.

– Some viral infections in progress (especially herpes, chickenpox, shingles).

– Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

WARNING AND PRECAUTION :

  • In cases of gastroduodenal ulcers, corticosteroid treatment is not contraindicated if an anti-ulcer treatment is also prescribed.
  • Potassium supplementation is only warranted for high
  • Dose treatments prescribed for long durations, or in cases of rhythm disturbances or concurrent use of a hypokalemic treatment.
  • The patient should systematically receive calcium and vitamin D supplementation.
SIDE EFFECTS :
  • Musculoskeletal disorders: Muscle atrophy preceded by muscle weakness.
  • Digestive disorders: Gastroduodenal ulcers, small bowel ulcers.
  • Skin disorders: Acne, purpura, bruising, hirsutism, delayed wound healing.
  • Neuropsychological disorders: Frequently: euphoria, insomnia, agitation.

DOSAGE :

Reserved for adults and children over 6 years old.

Adults:

  • Initial treatment: 4 to 14 tablets for a 60 kg adult.
  • Maintenance treatment: 1 to 3 tablets per day.

Children over 6 years old:

  • Initial treatment: 2 to 10 tablets for a 25 kg child.
  • Maintenance treatment: 1 to 2 tablets for a 25 kg child.

CONSERVATION :

  • Store at a temperature below 30°C, away from light and moisture.
  • Keep out of reach and sight of children.
  • Do not use after the expiration date on the package.
