COMPOSITION :
Each tablet contains :
-Metformin HCl ……………………………………………….……..500 mg

THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES
Oral antidiabetic agents: biguanides.
INDICATIONS :
Treatment of type 2 diabetes, particularly in cases of overweight, when diet and physical exercise alone are insufficient to restore glycemic balance.”
- “In adults, Gluco-retard may be used either as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin.”
- “In children over 10 years of age and adolescents, Gluco-retard may be used either as monotherapy or in combination with insulin.
CONTRAINDICATIONS :
This medication should not be used in the following cases:
- Known hypersensitivity to Metformin hydrochloride or any of the components of the product.
- Renal insufficiency or infectious diseases (respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections).
- Liver failure, persistent or severe diarrhea, or vomiting.
- Avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages.
IN CASE OF DOUBT, IT IS ESSENTIAL TO CONSULT
YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST.
WARNING AND PRECAUTION :
- Stop treatment with Gluco-retard before or at the time of the radiological examination and wait 48 hours after the examination before resuming it.
- Regularly monitor biological markers to measure your blood sugar levels and check your kidney function.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should always consult your doctor before taking any medication.
SIDE EFFECTS :
Nervous system disorders:
- Common: Altered sense of taste.
Gastrointestinal disorders:
- Very common: Gastrointestinal issues, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders:
- Very rare: Skin reactions such as erythema, itching, and hives.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION :
Oral route
Adultes :
- The usual initial dosage is 500 mg or 850 mg of metformin hydrochloride, taken two or three times a day during or at the end of meals.
After 10 to 15 days, the dosage should be adjusted based on blood glucose levels - The maximum recommended dose of metformin hydrochloride is 3 g per day
Children and adolescents over 10 years of age:
- The usual initial dosage is 500 mg or 850 mg of metformin hydrochloride, taken once daily during or at the end of a meal.
The maximum recommended dose of metformin is 2 g per day.
STORAGE :
- Store at a temperature below 30°C, and keep protected from light and humidity.
- Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
- Do not use after the expiration date on the box.
