ROPRIL
COMPOSITION :
Each tablet contains :
- Captopril (INN)………………………………………. 25 mg
- Excipients q.s. …………………………………………..One tablet
THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES :
- Reduces both systolic and diastolic blood pressure
- Decreases arterial and venous resistance
INDICATIONS :
- Arterial hypertension of all stages
- Congestive heart failure
CONTRAINDICATIONS :
- Hypersensitivity to any of the components
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Reported cases of intrauterine growth retardation, premature birth, and persistent ductus arteriosus
- Very rare cases of irreversible neonatal anuria when combined with diuretics during pregnancy

PRECAUTION :
- In elderly patients, renal function should be assessed before initiating treatment
- Screening for proteinuria before starting treatment, and monthly during the first year
- Small amounts of captopril may be excreted in breast milk
- Concomitant use of ROPRIL with potassium salts or potassium-sparing diuretics increases the risk of hyperkalemia
SIDE EFFECTS :
- Skin reactions: rash, pruritus
- Taste disturbances, cough
- Gastrointestinal disturbances (uncommon): epigastric pain, anorexia, nausea, abdominal pain
DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Oral route
ROPRIL may be taken before, during, or after meals.
- Usual dosage: 50 mg per day (either as a single dose in the morning or 25 mg twice daily, 12 hours apart)
- Severe hypertension may require higher doses (up to 150 mg/day, divided into three doses)
STORAGE :
- Store away from light and moisture.
- Keep out of reach and sight of children.
- Do not use after the expiration date on the package.
