COMPOSITION
Each 5 mL contains:
– Triprolidine HCl……………………………………: 2.5 mg
– Phenylephrine HCl…………………………………: 5 mg
– Chlorpheniramine maleate…………………………: 0.5 mg
– Excipients q.s. ……….,,,…………………………..: 5 mL
THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES
This medication is a combination of Phenylephrine (a sympathomimetic agent with systemic nasal decongestant action), Chlorpheniramine maleate, and Triprolidine hydrochloride (both H1 antihistamines).
INDICATIONS
Symptomatic treatment of nasal congestion and excess nasal secretion associated with acute nasopharyngitis and related upper respiratory tract infections.
CONTRANDICATIONS :
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the product, particularly antihistamines
- Children under 6 months of age
- History of stroke or risk factors that may increase the likelihood of stroke, due to the alpha-sympathomimetic action of the vasoconstrictor
- Severe or uncontrolled hypertension
- Severe coronary artery disease
- Risk of angle-closure glaucoma
- Risk of urinary retention related to prostatic or urethral disorders
- History of seizures
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
PRECAUTIONS
- It is essential to strictly adhere to the prescribed dosage and treatment duration, which should not exceed 5 days.
- Patients should be informed that the occurrence of high blood pressure, tachycardia, palpitations, cardiac rhythm disturbances, nausea, or any neurological signs (such as new or worsening headaches) requires immediate discontinuation of the medication.
SIDE EFFECTS
- Palpitations, tachycardia, hypertension
- Nausea, vomiting, dry mouth
- Sweating, itching (pruritus), urticarial
- Sedation or drowsiness
DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Route: Oral use
Intended for use in adults and children over 6 months of age
- Children aged 6 to 30 months: ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml), twice daily
- Children aged 30 months to 6 years: ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml), three times daily
- Children aged 6 to 12 years: 1 teaspoon (5 ml), three times daily
